A full nights rest....ahhhh!!

Well November 9th Carter slept through the night for the first time!! I had to get up and pump because I thought I was going to burst. While I was pumping I thought...this isn't right, he is sleeping and i'm up pumping. As my mother in law Jan would say - it's money in your pocket when you pump! She is exactly right, the cost of formula is soooo expensive - I have banked up a ton of milk in the freezer and the more I put in there, the more time I will have til we have to buy formula. When Chuck headed to work that morning I said "Carter hasn't been up at all" and he goes "well did you check to make sure he is breathing?" I chuckled and said "of course!" He makes me laugh!

On another note we got Carter's one month pictures back and they are darling of course :). They are the pictures posted on this blog.

We had a very busy weekend last weekend. Carter got to meet more members of this very large family. He met his Aunt Brooke and cousins, Aunt Jodi and all her family. It seemed like a holiday weekend with all the family that was around. I was happy to see Monday come because I was ready to get rested up again!
Thanksgiving is right upon us and i'm realizing everything that i'm so thankful for! First and formost i'm thankful for our health, love, and family. I probably don't tell my family or chuck's enough how thankful I am for them but I truly wouldn't be the person I am today without them. Chuck has given me the 3 best things in life - love, friendship, and Carter. I am so thankful I found my soul mate to live my life with. (In high school you could've never told me I would marry him:) ) My mother and sister are truly my best friends in life and they have framed me to be the person I am today!! I couldn't imagine life without either of them!! I look at my mother-in-law and think how greatful I am to have such a caring and loving person....most people have the "dreaded" mother in law - thankfully mine is just the opposite. I'm soooo thankful for everything she does for me and I truly see how much she loves Carter, Chuck & I. I could go on and on a list a million people, but everyone who is involved in our lives i would like to thank you - you all have made my life better!! THANKS!!

Well - on that note, i better get back to Carter...I will be going back to work before I know it so evertime time I have with him is cherished!!

Trick or Treat!!

Darc, Carter, Mason and I

Dr. Mason Rawhouser (what a cutie)

Carter the Glow Worm

We hope everyone had a great, safe, and warm halloween! Carter only trick-or-treated to my mom and John's house and that was enough for him. We got up bright and early and put on his glow worm costume. He didn't mind it for the photo shoot but he became fussy because it was so warm. I have to say he's the cutest glow worm i've ever seen!! I went to about 5 houses with Darc, Mason, Sarah, and Dane before Darc headed off to Mayo. It was fun to see the little boys together in their matching doctors outfit. I'm sure next year will be much more fun for Carter on Halloween.

Lost track of time....

Yes it has been forever since I have blogged! I spend a lot less time on the computer now that Carter Jay has arrived. I will update all of you on the last month of our lives, it has been super crazy but we wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

I was induced 9/22/09 @ 9:00 p.m. We checked into the hospital and got all settled in, at 10:00 they gave me the first cytotec pill (ripens cervix). Mom and darc got a hotel room and chuck settled in on the very "comfy" bed in my room. Chuck had no problem going to sleep...I on the other hand didn't sleep a wink.. At about 2:00 my nurse came back in and gave me another pill as I couldn't feel any contractions yet, but by 3:30 I went into labor. I was up and down and at 5:30 I text Darc and told them they better come up. I went ahead an got the epidural at 6:00 and boy was that fabulous!! It was the best $950 ever!! :) My doctor came in about 9 a.m. and when she checked me she said "You are 7 cm and you have a bulging bag of water." She broke my water and I delivered Carter @ 2:13. He was perfect from the beginning! We only spent 1 night in the hospital then we headed home.

Grandma Lynnea spent the first night with us in case we needed help. Carter was up every 2-3 hrs to eat. He always been a super eater!! I can't believe how fast this last month has gone..I remember counting the days til he got here, now they are slipping away so fast.

Carter continues to be up every 3-4-5 hrs during the night to have a bite to eat. He usually goes right back to sleep...but there are some nights I wonder how I will make it. He is now 1 month old and he weighs 10 lbs and is 22 inches long. He's going to be a big boy like his cousin Mason.

This weekend is our baby shower and we are looking forward to Carter meeting everyone that he hasn't met yet. He will be meeting his auntie brooke and cousins Shaye, Logen, and Jory for the first time! We want to thank Auntie Lisa for putting the shower on for us!! :) I'm hoping to be able to keep the blog up better - keep your fingers crossed.

Carter has also started to smile at my voice...it melts my heart!

Tomorrow Carter, Mason, Darc and I are headed to Rapid so Mase and Cartsy can get their pictures taken. I can't wait as time spent with them all is priceless....

We recently recieved some news about Darc that makes me thankful for family and great friends. She has a 3 inch mass on her liver, that is not cancerous thank god! She will be heading to Mayo Clinic November 2nd to probably have a 1/3 of her liver removed. I can't imagine life without her so we are being very optimistic and counting our lucky stars!! Carter dearly loves his auntie....keep her and our family in your prayers!! Well beings i'm running on 3 hrs of sleep i'm going to catch a cat nap while Carter sleeps!

38 weeks 6 days

It has been quite a while since I have last blogged, but nothing much has changed! We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby Carter. When I had my check-up on Tuesday she said "You are 1 cm and 75% effaced. You could go within the week or we will induce you the 22nd." Atleast there is an end in sight...even if it seems as if it's taking forever!

Since I last blogged my friend Heather delivered her baby boy 18 days early. Needless to say at first I was very jealous - our due dates were 1o days apart!! But after the trouble she had with feeding, jaundice, and how small he was, I decided that Carter could "cook" a little longer if he'd like!

Everything at our house is all tidied up and ready for him to arrive. I have gone on a cleaning spurt, and everyone who "really" knows me knows...my sister is a much better cleaner then me! I have to say this week though I might have gave her a run for her money! :) Everyone is soooo very anxious for Carter to get here. I keep thinking; will he have hair? how much will he weigh? how will chuck respond when he first holds him?

I'm hoping this will be my last blog until after he arrives! My best friend Lisa is planning a baby shower October 24th, so keep your schedule open if you would like to come! I know there is something else i'm forgetting to clean...better go search it out!
The little cow and corral are from my 1st baby shower that my other best friend Jenna gave me. Isn't it adorable!!

34 Week Check-Up

Yesterday was our 34 week check-up and everything went great!

When I arrived they said "it will be a 45 minute wait, she is delivering a baby"...I thought to myself, only 45 minutes? Since I work at a doctor's office, this was no problem to me! I grabbed a couple magazines and set in the exam room with my feet propped up...and started thinking....I thought that it took longer than 45 minutes to have a baby?? When my sister was in labor with Mason I remember that she had some great nurses and they didn't call the doctor til' he was about to be born. If I remember right, the nurses do the hard work during deliverys. This made me appreciate my job more, and hopefully it will make me remember to not be 'bitchy' to anyone during delivery time because they are just there to help you.

Not long after I had read 2 magazines she pops in the door. I measured at 34 1/2 weeks and she said the heartbeat sounded great. She also said that at my next appointment they would do the Group B Strep Test and start checking my cervix...i never thought I would be excited to hear the words "checking my cervix," but it is a symbol that i'm nearing the end!! My next appointment is in 2 weeks, then I only have 3 more appointments!! One every week...so in all reality, i'm about done, and shortly we will all be able to meet this little guy! Anyways i hope hes not 8 lbs or over!

I also recently purchased Carter some UGG boots and thought you all might like to see a photo. My sister said I was crazy, and I told her I was...but I just fell in love with them!!

The other baby in our lives....

I've been watching Snip react to the different things we bring into the nursery. She likes to smell everything and make sure it's ok for the room. She has been our one and only baby for the last 5 years and i'm anxious to see how she will like Carter.

The first children that she was around was Shaye and Logen. She did really good around them licking them and playing with them. Lately after watching her with Mason, i'm happy to say I don't think we have anything to worrry about! She is very good with him, and she probably likes him a little to much!

I think she has an idea that something is about to turn her world upside down. She likes to lay in Carter's room by the crib and sleep. She will still be one of our babies, but she probably won't be getting as much attention. I'm hoping she is protective over him like she is with me.

Only 6 weeks left to go! HOORAY!! We have a check up Tuesday, so I will post more after that!

The Countdown has Begun!

I'm not sure how well I will be at this blogging business, but I figured it was a good way to keep everyone updated on our progress and to post pictures when Carter arrives. I know that most of us have Facebook and keep in touch that way, there are some people that don't have it..hint, hint..

I have noticed in the last couple of days my back is throbbing already..i keep thinking to myself, how am I going to make it 6 more weeks? I have been counting down for a while now, and as the time gets closer it seems farther away. It seems as if I can't get enough sleep. When i'm sleeping real well my bladder thinks it must be emptied now! It's a good thing that Chuck sleeps like a rock or we might be sleeping in separate beds.

I have also noticed that I have really started to grow in the last couple of weeks. My doctor told me at our last appointment that if I keep growing like this he should be around 7 1/2 lbs. Lets sure hope she is right because Chuck was almost 9 lbs. I had a great baby shower last week and got tons of things! I am pretty sure we are already as ready as can be....everyone knows how big of a planner I am. I couldn't wait to get everything set up.

Well, Chuck is working nights so i'm going to go to bed early tonight. I will try to keep this thing updated!! Hope everyone is well and enjoying the little summer that is left!
